Fire damages Edina home
Edina, Minn., Sept. 15, 2014 – The Edina Fire Department was called to the 5000 block of Bruce Place at
5:40 a.m. Sept. 14 after receiving a call from a resident about a house fire.
Fire crews arrived to discover a working structure fire with flames showing from a second-floor window of
the single-family residence. Firefighters were able to quickly get the fire under control and contain it to the
single room. However, the home was damaged from the smoke and water. Two residents were home at the
time of the fire, but no injuries were reported.
At this time, the probable cause of the fire appears to have been unattended smoking materials.
“Cigarettes, candles or anything left burning unattended can cause a fire,” said Fire Inspector Brian Hanrahan.
“It’s important to put out whatever it is you have burning when you leave the room.”
The Edina Fire Department received mutual aid from Hopkins, Richfield and St. Louis Park.
