I.Call To Order
Chair Martinez called the meeting to order at 7:07 PM.
II.Roll Call
Answering roll call were Chair Martinez and Commissioners Horan, Hussian,
Jackson, Manser, Seeley, Lanzas, and Student Commissioners Mans and
Densmore.
Absent: Commissioner Dakane
Late arrivals: Student Commissioner Martinez arrived at 7:39 PM.
III.Approval Of Meeting Agenda
Motion by Carolyn Jackson to Approve October 8, 2020, Meeting Agenda.
Seconded by Richard Manser. Motion Carried.
IV.Approval Of Meeting Minutes
Motion by Bayardo Lanzas to Approve September 10, 2020 Minutes.
Seconded by Melissa Seeley. Motion Carried.
V.Special Recognitions And Presentations
A.Welcome New Sustainability Coordinator
Sustainability Coordinator, Grace Hancock, introduced herself to the
commission.
VI.Reports/Recommendations
A.2020 Work Plan Updates
Commission discussed ideas for the Farmer's Market, which included
educational materials for the public.
Staff Liaison Lamon will check what the City is doing for outreach
marketing materials.
Commissioner Horan gave an update that a City branded Green Business
application has been created to send via direct mail or e-mail. Staff Liaison
Lamon will follow-up with making the application viewable on the Edina
website and adding a contact phone number.
Initiative 5 with PARC has been completed.
Initiative 4 and 6 have been put on hold due to COVID-19.
VII.Chair And Member Comments
Chair Martinez updated the Commission about the 2021 Proposed Work
Plan presentation to the City Council. She mentioned some initiatives
overlap with other commissions.
Student Commissioners Densmore and Mans discussed the current
COVID-19 lunch procedures at Edina High School and how composting
has been affected.
Student Commissioner Martinez arrived at 7:39 PM.
Student Commissioner Martinez stated that solar panels have been installed
and there are plans to begin a sustainability plan for the school and district.

Meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM.

7.21.20: City Council approved removing this initiative from HRRC and replacing with a new initiative, "Lead Community Conversations about race, justice and
policing in 2020 and make recommendations for next steps as part of the 2020 work plan process."
Co-chair a cross-commission committee (EEC & HRRC) to coordinate the
"Sharing Values, Sharing Communities Event" on the adpatation and /or
resilience on climate change. Committee will be comprised of no more
than 2-3 members from each commission and one member from each
commission will serve as a co-chair

Progress Report: 3.24.2020: 50th Anniversary event with the school district focused on food waste has been cancelled due to COVID-19.

Coordinate 50th Anniversary of Earth Day event with Edina Community

Review and Comment
Appoint up to 2 members to provide feedback on PARC's initiative (#4) to
develop criteria that incorporates sustainability and equity for prioritizing
capital improvements for park infrastructure needs, including playground
equipment, warming houses and core amenities for expansion and
replacement before final criteria goes to Council.

BEWG Meeting Minutes
Attendees: Paul Hussian Tom Tessman
Carolyn Jackson Michelle Horan Reviewed the procedural structure of a working group and the conversion Michelle had with MJ abut a hybrid structure of the BEWG 1. Normally a working group is assembled to tackle a project then disbands once the
project concludes. 2. The BEWG is an ongoing working group, therefore in order to give more residents an opportunity for involvement a call for new members needs to happen yearly. 3. Michelle shared the Greenprint document that she is working on to submit to the City 2. Reviewed the purpose of BEWG and how it came about
1. Currently GBR reviews application review. The final review may land with the EEC 2. Business outreach 1. Promotion of program and recognized businesses.
1. Michelle emailed MJ about decals - the number certain accounts can receive if they have multiple doors. Also about separate gold, silver, bronze designations
2. Possible Edina Magazine article in 2021 2. Other avenues to engage businesses about the City's environmental goals, and engage some of those larger energy users.
1. Covid may give us an opportunity to reach the right decision makers calls are not being screened like they would normally be. 2. Carolyn will reach out to The Tide Laundry service and Warner Stellian

Tom will help create a document to store information about the Green Recognized Businesses in order to better keep track of and communicate with our recognizees (a new word?).
