This is Edina’s third year competing in the challenge in which residents, schools, neighbors, families and friends sign up, record their activities and compete for prizes, including T-shirts and more. In 2020, more than 94 Edina residents logged 24,703,812 total steps! Many participants do not need to start a new activity because things people already do count as steps, from vacuuming and playing pickleball to gardening or washing a dog. Participants can also start a new activity or two to earn more points. Participants use an activity log conversion chart to easily track their activities into points. The winning communities, schools and individuals receive awards. Other participating cities this year include Bloomington, Eden Prairie, Hopkins, Richfield and St. Louis Park. Anyone who lives or works in Edina is encouraged to join the Edina team. People of all ages and abilities are welcome. Sign up any time after April 1 at StepToIT.org or learn more at EdinaMN.gov/StepToIt. The Step To It Challenge begins May 1 and runs through May 28.
