In 2020, the Edina City Council requested the Planning Commission evaluate the appropriateness of the City’s off-street parking regulations, which have been in place since 1992. Many of the current standards have not been amended since 1970. Over the past nine months, the Planning Commission has been considering revisions. Highlights of the parking ordinance amendment drafted by the Commission include: Incentives for developers to reduce parking, such as shared parking, bike parking, sustainability and location near transit stops Maximum limits on parking spaces Separate regulations within the City’s commercial nodes General reduction in the the number of parking stalls required for projects Residents are encouraged to visit BetterTogetherEdina.org/parking-ordinance-amendments to learn more about the proposed changes and submit their feedback.
