Centennial Lakes to host the Second-Annual Quinn’s
Cup Hockey Jamboree
Edina, Minn., Nov. 20, 2014 – Centennial Lakes Park will host Quinn’s Cup, a pond hockey event, 8:30
a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, in conjunction with its Winter Ice Festival that will take place the following
day.
The event is held annually in honor of 8-year-old Quinn Kirsch, who had a passion for the game of hockey –
especially when played at its best: outdoors! Kirsch, who lived in Edina, died suddenly of Myocarditis on Jan. 7,
2013. His parents wanted to provide a meaningful event to honor him.
"Our family is very excited for the second-annual Quinn's Cup. Last year was bigger than we could have ever
imagined, which has led us to add a fourth rink this year,” said Kyle Kirsch, Quinn’s father. “We are grateful
to the City of Edina for its continued support, along with Bellatoria Pizza & Aspire beverages, which once
again will provide lunch for players. Quinn's Cup honors the memory of our beloved son Quinn while raising
funds for the Myocarditis Foundation."
Over 400 mite and squirt skaters from Edina and surrounding communities will participate in this year’s event
at Centennial Lakes Park, 7499 France Ave. S. Hundreds of parents, fans and spectators are expected as well.
Quinn’s Cup will take place on four rinks on the pond with boards and goals.
Quinn’s Cup is a non-profit organization and all proceeds from the event will benefit the Myocarditis
Foundation. Last year, the event raised nearly $14,000 in honor of Quinn.
“We are pleased to be able to host this very special event and look forward to a great weekend of outdoor
hockey,” said Centennial Lakes General Manager Tom Shirley.
Costs for the event is $350 per team, which includes two 45-minute games, use of the indoor Hughes Pavilion
for changing and staying warm, T-shirts, bracelets, and lunch provided by Bellatoria Pizza & Aspire Beverage
Company. Additional food and beverages will be provided by YoYo Donuts. The deadline to sign up is Dec.
15.
