Vision Edina Workshops to be Held in November
Edina, Minn., Nov. 4, 2014 – In order to get as much feedback from the community about the City’s
future visioning project, Vision Edina, the City of will host three major public workshops in early November,
“The Vision Edina workshops are a fantastic way to connect a wide range of groups – from a high school
social studies class to senior condo association – into the same conversation,” said Assistant City Manager
Karen Kurt.
General meetings open to all members of the public are scheduled for the following dates and locations:
7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5 at the Edina Senior Center
1:30-3 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 6 at the Edina Community Library, 5280 Grandview Square
7-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Edina Senior Center
During these sessions, participants can expect to work both in large groups and small as they hear about the
four future scenarios and provide feedback.
“‘Tomorrow is ours to win or lose,’ said Lyndon Johnson. Edina has always been a community that thinks
about and plans for its future,” said Mayor Jim Hovland. “Planning together for the Edina of tomorrow, 20, 30
or 40 years hence, gives us the ability to collaboratively shape the future of our community. The Vision Edina
meetings scheduled for November and beyond are a wonderful opportunity to share your voice on an
extraordinarily important topic. We hope you will consider participating in one of the upcoming Vision Edina
sessions."
“Residents should be interested, as this is an opportunity to have input into the overarching vision, which will
shape the comprehensive plan and action plans,” said CEO of Future iQ David Beurle, the consultant leading
the project. “The outcomes of this work will inform and help shape important future investment and policy
decisions in the City, which in turn will shape the character and nature of the city, its neighborhoods and
commercial areas.”
