In a special meeting Jan. 7, the Council also voted to conduct City meetings virtually through the end of February. The resolution asks residents to wear appropriate face coverings that can deal with the fine particles of Omicron, maintain social distancing in public places, wash hands regularly and get fully vaccinated to reduce the spread and negative impacts of COVID-19.  “Please do your part to protect yourself, your family, friends and neighbors,” said Mayor Jim Hovland in a letter to the community. “Wear a mask and get your booster shot or get vaccinated. Let’s have Edina known as the ‘most boosted’ community in the state of Minnesota! We will get through this together, but we need help from all of you for a better 2022!” Meetings of the Edina City Council, Housing & Redevelopment Authority and Planning Commission will be broadcast live on cable TV and online through the City’s website, EdinaMN.gov/LiveMeetings, and Facebook.com/EdinaMN. Residents may participate in public hearings at BetterTogetherEdina.org, by leaving a voicemail at 952-826-0377 or calling in during the meeting. Meetings of the City’s other advisory boards and commissions will be streamed live on the City’s YouTube channel, youtube.com/EdinaTV. Residents may also listen by calling the telephone number at the top of the meeting agenda. With high rates of COVID-19 in the community, the following services and programs have been suspended or canceled: January and February “Walk with the Mayor” Police Department tours and ride-alongs. Fire Station tours. In-house visits by the Public Works Department to determine the source of high water bills. Because many employees are working remotely, residents should schedule appointments before visiting Edina City Hall or the Public Works & Park Maintenance Facility.
