HomeMy WebLinkAboutFS2 Workshop Press ReleaseContact: Lauren Siebenaler, Senior Communications Coordinator Phone 952-833-9537 • LSiebenaler@EdinaMN.gov • EdinaMN.gov  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  Edina Seeks Feedback on new Fire Station 2 Design  Edina, Minn., Jan. 13, 2023 – The public is invited to provide feedback and ideas for preliminary design of the new Fire Station 2 online or in person 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at the Public Works & Park Maintenance Facility, 7450 Metro Blvd.  “We want to get an idea of what the neighborhood values in a space,” said Facilities Project Manager Rachel Finberg, who has led the new Fire Station 2 project. “More than anything, we want the community to feel like this is a part of their neighborhood – and feel like they can approach it, use it and that it’s a safe space for them.” City staff would like to hear how the community might like to use indoor and outdoor public spaces at the facility and what transportation needs they have to get there. They hope to integrate what they hear in the design. Both the in-person workshop and feedback collected online at BetterTogetherEdina.org will focus on incorporating the values of sustainability, equity, community health and engagement. Community members who want to provide feedback online should use the Design Feedback tool at BetterTogetherEdina.com/Fire-Station-2. There are a series of questions included to prompt comments. Online comments will close Feb. 5. The new Fire Station 2 facility will be located at 4401 W. 76th St. After the feedback is gathered online and at the workshop, staff and project consultants will use it in the next design phase.
