All of them had worked for the City for 15 years or more. Jeff Elasky, Deputy Police Chief Jeff Elasky retired as Deputy Police Chief Aug. 19 after 36 years with the Edina Police Department. “Jeff has been a valued member of our department, serving in a variety of roles for over 30 years,” said Police Chief Todd Milburn. “As our Deputy Chief for the last several years, Jeff has been a strong leader for our department. Jeff’s institutional knowledge will be missed, and our staff wish him well in retirement.” Of his experience, Elasky said, “I’ve been very fortunate to be where I am. I still feel and believe that this is one of the best police organizations in the state — if not the country — and it’s because of the people who make it that way, and the support from the community.” Aaron White, a 16-year veteran of the Edina Police Department, was promoted to the position following Elasky’s retirement. Jane Timm, Deputy City Clerk After 25 years in the Administration Department working with licensing and elections, Deputy City Clerk Jane Timm retired Sept. 2. “She gets along with everyone and has a very calm demeanor about her. She has a lot of qualities that are hard to find these days,” said City Clerk Sharon Allison. “I’m going to miss her institutional knowledge – that will be hard to replace!” Reflecting on her career, Timm said, “I am very proud to have worked for the City of Edina and hope I’ve made people’s lives better and easier in my time here.” Records Management Specialist Noel Mills Ford was promoted to the position following Timm’s retirement. Pat Sandon, Fire Captain Capt. Pat Sandon retired from the Edina Fire Department Dec. 2. Sandon started his career with Edina as a paid-on-call firefighter in 2000. He was hired as a full-time firefighter paramedic in 2003 and promoted to Captain in 2011. “One of Pat’s greatest strengths is his ability to create and maintain relationships,” said Fire Chief Andrew Slama. “Pat has strong relationships not only within Edina Fire, but amongst the fire service throughout the State and certainly our mutual aid partners. I’m fortunate to have worked with Pat. I’m excited about his retirement and know he will enjoy his time.” Upon his retirement, Sandon said, “I’ve been so fortunate to have had the opportunity to work for the City, the Fire Department and be a part of something way bigger than me. I just want everybody to know that. It’s such a good place to work.” Following Sandon’s retirement, Lt. Scott Vadnais, Lt. Todd Porthan, and Paramedic/Firefighters Travis Jacobs and Matt Willems were promoted to Captain.
