City Names New Parks & Recreation Assistant Director
Edina, Minn., Jan., 8, 2013 – The City of Edina has promoted Susan Faus to Assistant Director of Parks &
Recreation, effective Jan. 14.
Faus was hired by the City in February 2012 as Senior Recreation Facility Manager. In the position, she
oversaw operations at Edinborough Park and the Edina Aquatic Center. Prior to that, she worked more than
11 years for the YMCA where she was promoted five times and held director positions in fitness, operations
and sales.
As Parks & Recreation Assistant Director, Faus will supervise staff; utilize her enterprise operations
experience to assist in the coordination and supervision of marketing efforts, technology upgrades, healthier
concessions and special events; help with strategic planning and playground replacement; and work with
athletic associations to ensure the Department is meeting their expectations.
The position opened when former Parks & Recreation Director John Keprios retired Dec. 27, 2012, and
then-Assistant Director Ann Kattreh was promoted to fill his spot as Director.
“We are thrilled to have Susan join our team at the Parks & Recreation Department,” said Kattreh. “In her
role at Edinborough Park and the Aquatic Center, Susan very successfully juggled a demanding work load and
provided an exceptional level of customer service for residents. She has a strong background in marketing,
recreation programming and facility operations, which makes her the perfect candidate for this position.”
Faus holds a bachelor’s degree in corporate and community fitness from North Dakota State University and a
master’s degree in sport management from the University of Kentucky.
