Residents Encouraged to ‘Walk With the Mayor’ April 20
Edina, Minn., April 15, 2013 – Edina Mayor Jim Hovland will lead his monthly “Walk with the Mayor” at
Edinborough Park, 7700 York Ave. S., Saturday, April 20.
This year, Hovland is leading a monthly two-mile walk the third Saturday morning of every month at varying
locations. Those interested in walking and talking with Hovland this month should meet at 9 a.m. at the park’s
customer service desk. The walk should take about an hour.
During the walk, Hovland will talk about the improvements made at Edinborough Park over the past year,
including the removal of some plant material and in-filling of the grotto area. While the City’s 2012
independent audit preparation is not yet complete, preliminary results for Edinborough Park show a significant
positive improvement in annual financial performance attributable to the operational changes implemented last
year. According to preliminary figures, 2012 revenues are 8 percent above budget, while expenditures are 12
percent under budget. These margins equate to 2012 revenues $90,000 over budget and 2012 expenses
$190,000 under budget.
