With the theme “Making History Since 1888,” Edina’s annual Fourth of July parade will begin at 10 a.m., Thursday July 4.The theme ties to the City’s Quasquicentennial, or125th anniversary. This year’s Grand Marshal is former Parks & Recreation Director John Keprios, who retired late last year after 35 years of service to the City of Edina. The parade begins behind Edina City Hall at Eden Avenue and Willson Road (just east of Minnesota Highway 100) and proceeds one mile east on 50th Street to the U.S. Bank parking lot at Halifax Avenue. Presenting sponsors are Lunds and Byerly’s and US Bank. Parade organizers recommend spectators arrive early, since an estimated 15,000 people view the parade. The parade will be broadcast live on Edina Channel 16 and aired throughout the month. Volunteers are needed to help the day of the event. Please email info@edinaparade.org if you are interested. After enjoying the parade and a day of celebration, residents can top-off their Independence Day with an 8:45 p.m. concert by the First John Philip Sousa Memorial Band. The concert will be followed by a beautiful firework display at 10 p.m. presented by Fairview Southdale Hospital. The concert and fireworks will both be located at Rosland Park.
