Residents Encouraged to ‘Walk With the Mayor’ June 22
Edina, Minn., June 13, 2013 – Edina Mayor Jim Hovland will lead his monthly “Walk with the Mayor” in the
50th & France commercial area Saturday, June 22.
This year, Hovland is leading a monthly two-mile walk one Saturday morning of every month at varying
locations. Those interested in walking and talking with Hovland this month should meet at 9 a.m. June 22 in
the parking lot at Wooddale Park, Wooddale Avenue and West 50th Street. The group will walk from the
park to downtown Edina and back. In case of rain, the walk will be held at Southdale Center, where walkers
should meet near Caribou Coffee. The walk should take about an hour.
Later this year, the Mayor will walk at Rosland Park, Edina Promenade and Centennial Lakes Park. Those who
plan to walk next month on July 20 should meet in the shelter at Rosland Park. Edina Garden Council
member Dianne Plunkett Latham will talk about the wildflower walk and habitat restoration in the park and
the group will stop at the Edina Art Center after the walk to see the current exhibit and visit the gift shop.
