City plans open house to discuss parking at 50th & France
Edina, Minn., Aug. 28, 2013 – The City of Edina and consultant Kimley-Horn and Associates will host an
open house at 50th & France in September to share information about a feasibility study in the works for the
area and hear about perceived parking challenges and opportunities.
Building off of work done in 2012 by Walker Parking, Kimley-Horn and Associates has been hired by the City
to identify strategies for increasing the efficient use of parking spaces; determine appropriate streetscape
improvements to update and unify the shopping area; study expansion options of the North Ramp, including
new commercial space on the street level; and study options for improving the South and Middle ramps. The
purpose of the feasibility study is to develop a plan to improve the accessibility and availability of parking in
Edina at 50th & France.
Before any significant progress is made on the study, an open house will be held for the public to learn more
about the process and schedule for completing the feasibility study as well as to provide an opportunity for
people to share their thoughts about opportunities and challenges that should be considered. This event is
open to the public. Business owners, employees of area businesses, customers and neighbors are encouraged
to attend. The open house will be held 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Mozza Mia Pizza Pie & Mozzarella
Bar, 3910 W. 50th St. The meeting will be held in the lower level banquet room. An open house format with
no formal presentation will be used. The public is welcome to come and go at any time during the two-hour
timeframe.
