Residents Encouraged to ‘Walk With the Mayor’ Aug. 17
Edina, Minn., June 13, 2013 – Edina Mayor Jim Hovland will lead his monthly “Walk with the Mayor” along
the Edina Promenade Saturday, Aug. 17.
This year, Hovland is leading a monthly two-mile walk one Saturday morning of every month at
varying locations. Those interested in walking and talking with Hovland this month should meet at 9
a.m. Aug. 17 on the north side of the Yorktown Community Garden, 7335 York Ave. S. (The garden
is behind the YMCA Tri-City Skate Park.) The two-mile walk will start at the garden and head
through the Promenade. Walkers will see both the bounty in the gardens and the beauty of the
Promenade.
In case of rain, the walk will be held at Southdale Center, where walkers should meet near Caribou
Coffee.
The walk should take about an hour.
Later this year, the Mayor will walk the Grandview area and Centennial Lakes Park.
