Only buckthorn can be dumped at this time. Edina residents may drop off their buckthorn brush 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 19 and Oct. 26, and noon to 4 p.m. Oct. 20 and Oct. 27. The dumpsite is located on Ikola Way, across from the Braemar Golf Dome. Residents must show a picture ID with a current Edina address. Commercial haulers are not allowed to leave buckthorn at the dump unless they are accompanied by the residents for whom they are working. Buckthorn brush cannot be bagged, boxed or bundled. If it is, it must be removed from any containers before disposal. Buckthorn is a highly invasive shrub and is detrimental to the health of native flora in woodlots where it grows. It causes a great reduction in the more valuable native plants that should be growing within these sites. It can cause ill health and declines for the trees within these stands. For more information on the buckthorn dump, or on controlling this invasive plant, contact Tom Horwath, Edina City Forester at 952-826-0308, or visit www.EdinaMN.gov. -30-
