The paper shredding-event will be held 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 at Edina Liquor – Southdale, 6755 York Ave. S. Anyone can bring personal and confidential documents for shredding on-site. Though the shredding is free, a donation to the local food shelf is encouraged. Edina Liquor staff will give out a coupon for 10 percent off at Edina Liquor to anyone who donates five cans of food or more at the shredding event. “The last two years, we’ve had a great turn out and raised several hundred pounds of food for VEAP,” said Liquor Operations Director Steve Grausam. “This event is a great way to safely destroy personal and confidential documents while helping those in need.” Edina Liquor collected 875 pounds of food and raised more than $1,693 in 2012. In total, the equivalent of 2,568 pounds of food was collected, a 50 percent increase over 2011 and more than six times what was donated in 2010. Grausam said he hopes to increase this year’s donations by 20 percent, which would bring donations to more than 3,000 pounds of food. For more information, contact Grausam at 952-903-5732. -30-
