Peace of mind while making final arrangements: Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapel will discuss options for funeral arrangements, new laws about home funeral arrangements and how to compare apples to apples when reviewing costs. Can you buy your casket at Sam’s Club? Can ashes be spread at the Mall of America? Be educated and plan ahead. Coffee and light refreshments will be served. Please join us from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 17, or 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18. This is a free event, but please call the Edina Senior Center to register. Single Mingle Club: Have you seen an event you wanted to attend, but didn’t want to go by yourself? Ever find yourself wanting to go out for a happy hour, walk, coffee, movie or dinner – just not alone? Here is something for you. We will hold an organizational meeting at the Edina Senior Center at 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17, to gage interest and make some plans for a few outings. Please call the Edina Senior Center if you plan to attend, or if you cannot attend but want to know more. Medical Assistance – Know the Law: The rules regarding medical assistance are very complicated. We will have a presentation by an elder law attorney with questions and answers to follow. Can the State take my house if I go into a nursing home? Can I gift money and still qualify for medical assistance? Catherine R. Thatcher will answer these questions and more. The presentation starts at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16. This is a free event, but please call the Edina Senior Center to register.
