The City will hold a new discussion on the site every month in 2014, and pose several questions for each topic. January’s topic is food trucks and the following questions are asked:  Currently, food trucks are prohibited in Edina. Would you support a change in local law to allow food trucks in Edina? Why or why not?  Should there be protection in place for brick-and-mortar businesses against mobile food trucks? If so, what?  If food trucks were allowed, should they be restricted to certain areas of the City? Where would you like to see them?  If food trucks were licensed in Edina, should the City limit the number of licenses available every year? Why or why not?  When should food trucks be allowed? Only during summer, events, all year, or something else? What about time of day? “We’ve been approached in the past by a few people regarding allowing food trucks in Edina,” said Jeff Brown, Community Health Administrator. “With this online discussion, we will be able to gather resident feedback and have a better understanding of what the community wants to see.” “The City is very interested in hearing what residents think on several issues,” said Communications Coordinator Jordan Gilgenbach. “Using ‘Speak Up, Edina!,’ we will proactively solicit feedback on select issues ranging from public art, food-liquor sales ratios for restaurants, food trucks, garbage haulers and others.” The City’s discussion on food trucks will be regularly monitored through Jan. 31. Residents, business owners, visitors, or anyone else is encouraged to weigh in on the issues. For more information, visit www.SpeakUpEdina.org or visit www.EdinaMN.gov/Communications. -30-
