Edina Art Center Offers Free Media Workshop
Edina, Minn., March 13, 2012 –This spring, as part of an ongoing effort to foster the preservation of family
memories, the Edina Art Center is pleased to offer a free media workshop to the public. The one-hour
session will take place 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24.
“We know that families have all kinds of media – movies, photos, slides, videotapes, audio tapes – just sitting
in drawers and closets waiting to be recorded to digital form,” said Phil Johnson, Manager of the Peggy Kelly
Media Arts Studios. “Getting started can seem overwhelming unless you have a plan in place and resources to
help.”
The workshop will cover the identification of older media, methods for prioritizing and sorting, resources for
digital preservation, and step-by-step planning. Art Center staff will demonstrate several typical transfer
processes available to the public at the Media Studios.
