New Police Officer Sworn In
Edina, Minn., March 14, 2012 – Chris Tkachuk was recently sworn in as the Edina Police Department’s
newest officer.
Tkachuk began work as a Police Officer in February. City Clerk Debra Mangen administered the oath to him
Feb. 23. Tkachuk was sworn in with Chief of Police Jeff Long at his side and surrounded by his fellow officers,
family and friends. Tkachuk’s mother, Cheryl Tkachuk, pinned his badge, No. 198.
Tkachuk is a graduate of Minnetonka High School and received a bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement from
Metro State University. Prior to working for the City, he was a Supervisor of Lakewinds Natural Foods in
Minnetonka and served as a Reserve Officer for the Minnetonka Police Department.
“Officer Tkachuk mentioned during his background investigation that he felt a strong pull toward this
profession in college. He said it is a vital necessity in any civil society. And he is right,” said Police Chief Jeff
Long. “We hire and retain officers who believe in providing a level of service that is superior. Chris has a
history of providing superior customer service and we are confident he will do a good job here as Police
Officer.”
Tkachuk beamed with pride during the brief ceremony at City Hall. “I thank the Edina Police Department for
this opportunity to serve the community with integrity and honor,” he said.
