Edina Fire Department Receives CenterPoint Energy Grant
Edina, Minn., June 18, 2012 – Edina Fire Chief Marty Scheerer accepted a $2,500 Community Partnership
grant from CenterPoint Energy at the June 5 Edina City Council meeting.
The grant will be used to purchase four new multi-gas atmosphere monitors. The monitors can detect and
monitor levels for gasses such as carbon monoxide, oxygen, hydrogen sulfide and the lower explosive limit of
natural gas. Each monitor costs $550.
“This grant is being used to replace some older equipment that needs to be replaced and this is the funding
we didn’t have to do it,” Edina Fire Chief Marty Scheerer said. “This grant donation is really appreciated. It
helps our firefighters do their jobs.”
“Our grant program enables us to leverage our local funds and purchase needed safety equipment for safety
projects throughout our local communities,” said Tod Norgren of CenterPoint Energy at the Council meeting.
“It is really our opportunity to show our commitment to safety as we with community leaders.”
