The Edina Parks & Recreation Department is thrilled to announce two family-friendly costume parties scheduled for the week of Halloween. Edinborough Park, 7700 York Ave., will hold its annual Halloween Party 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, giving kids a jump start on their trick-or-treating. “Trick-or-treating here has several advantages, including convenience and temperature control. It is always 70 degrees and sunny in here,” said Assistant Manager Amanda Holle. In addition to candy stops, the park will also be dotted with game stations, including Whiffle ball, ring toss and a bean bag throw. Park staff will also install a mini-haunted house and Scooby Doo-themed jumper. Adventure Peak and the Great Hall will remain open during the festivities, as will Peak Café. Party highlights will include a costume contest and a comedy and magic show by Brodini. “He is a magician geared toward kids, but provides excellent entertainment for the whole family,” Holle said. Admission is $6 plus tax per child (age 12 and younger). Adults attend free with paying child. Looking for something to do the night of Halloween? Braemar Arena, 7501 Ikola Way, will host a “Monster Mash on Ice” 7:30-9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31. Party-goers will enjoy themed treats and are eligible to compete in a costume contest. The cost is $4 per child, and ice skate rentals are an additional $2 per pair. Adults get in free with their paying child. Please note that no masks or costume hazards will be allowed on the ice.
