Parent Forum: Underage Drinking and Parent Liability
Edina, Minn., Nov. 12, 2012 – The Edina High School Parent Council will present “Underage Drinking and
Parent Liability,” a forum for parents from 7 to 8:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 26 in the Community Room at Edina
High School.
A panel of speakers will educate parents about underage drinking, curfews, drug possession, hosting and
chaperoning parties, parent liability and legal consequences. The panel includes School Resource Officer Brian
Hubbard, an officer with the Edina Police Department; Criminal Defense Attorney Ed Cohen and two parents
who have relevant experiences to share.
“It’s important for parents to know the laws and rules, and the consequences if children don’t follow them,”
said Cindy Wood, co-chair of the Parent Forum. “Parents don’t always know where to get that information
and there’s a lot to learn. We always want our kids to stay safe, and as parents we want to be aware of what’s
going on.”
The program is free and open to all interested parents. No reservations are required.
