Edina Community Foundation raises funds for EDINA 16
through playing cards
Edina, Minn., March 18, 2011 – Who owned the last operating farm in Edina? In what sport did
Edina High School win its first state championship? How much was the first home offered in the
Country Club District? In what year did Edina officially become a city?
A third series of Edina playing cards with answers to those questions and more is now available for
purchase, helping the Edina Community Foundation support Edina Community Channel 16 (EDINA
16) and celebrate Edina’s rich history.
The City’s Communications & Marketing Department created the first set of Edina playing cards in
2005. The cards featured a photo of Centennial Lakes Park and historical tidbits about the
community. The second set of playing cards, which went on sale in 2008, included a photo of the
historical Edina Cinema sign and even more historical facts. The new set of cards features a photo of
Braemar Golf Course and more than 50 additional facts.
“Whether you like to play rummy or poker or are just interested in the history of Edina, these
playing cards are fun and mark many significant moments in the community’s history,” said
Communications & Marketing Director Jennifer Bennerotte. “They also support the work of EDINA
16.”
Suggested retail price is $4 per deck. Decks are available at Braemar Pro Shop, Edina City Hall, Edina
Senior Center, Jerry’s Foods and Jerry’s Hardware and can be purchased online at
www.CityofEdina.com/Store. Proceeds will help fund new equipment such as a green screen, lights
and microphones for EDINA 16.
