New Edina police officer sworn in
Edina, Minn., April 13, 2011 – Sean Young was recently sworn in as the Edina Police
Department’s newest officer.
Young began work as a Police Officer April 11. City Clerk Debra Mangen administered the oath to
him April 13. Young was sworn in with Chief of Police Jeff Long at his side and surrounded by his
fellow officers, family and friends. Young’s wife, Ashley, pinned his badge, No. 196.
“Sean has a history of working hard and going above what is expected of him,” Long said. “He is well
respected by his fellow officers and those in the communities he’s served.”
Young was previously a police officer with the South Lake Minnetonka Police Department. He is
returning home to the Edina Police Department where he was a Reserve Officer from 2002-2005.
“I’ve always considered Edina a place where I wanted to work,” said Young during the brief
ceremony. “I am thrilled to come back.”
