City of Edina honored by MAGC
Edina, Minn., May 27, 2011 – The Minnesota Association of Government Communicators
(MAGC) on May 24 presented the City of Edina with five awards for work completed in 2010.
The City was presented two Awards of Merit and three first-place Awards of Excellence in the 29th-
annual Northern Lights Awards competition. The City’s programs “Beyond the Badge” and “In
Edina” each received an Award of Excellence, as did Communications Coordinator Jordan
Gilgenbach’s autumn About Town story on domestic partnerships being recognized by the City. The
City received Awards of Merit for “Agenda: Edina” and the marketing materials for birthday parties
at Edinborough Park.
“Our department is honored to have been recognized by MAGC,” said Communications &
Marketing Director Jennifer Bennerotte. “Staff works diligently to produce creative communications
materials and programming that educates and informs the public. It is humbling to receive awards
from our peers in government communications for the work we do.”
More than 140 entries in 13 categories were received and judged by a prestigious panel of experts
and merited a total of 68 awards. The Metropolitan Council received the largest number of awards,
winning nine. The cities of Bloomington and Edina each won five, as did the Minnesota Department
of Natural Resources.
