Communications & Marketing Department receives
national award
Edina, Minn., Sept. 13, 2011 -- The City-County Communications & Marketing Association
(3CMA) recently announced that the City of Edina received a Savvy Award in its national competition.
The awards were announced Sept. 8 during a ceremony at 3CMA’s 23rd-annual conference, held in
Austin, Texas. Edina Community Channel 16 (EDINA 16) received a first-place Savvy Award for a
public service announcement produced for the Edina Fire Department about the dangers of pouring
gasoline on recreational fires. Judges said, “Very impressive use of reversed footage that the audience
doesn't pick up on until about 30 seconds in ... Makeup is disturbingly realistic. Very well done!”
There were several other Minnesota winners in the national competition, including the City of
Bloomington, which won a Savvy Award and third-place Award of Excellence. The cities of Eden
Prairie and Plymouth each won Awards of Excellence, too.
