Sculptures are displayed annually on the Edina Promenade and Grandview Square Park. The Edina Promenade is a 1.5-mile paved pedestrian and bike pathway system stemming from Centennial Lakes Park. The Promenade includes extensive landscaping and multiple plazas for public art. Grandview Square Park is just south of the Edina Community Library and Edina Senior Center and is surrounded by residential units and office buildings. Three pods, each six feet in diameter, are designated for sculpture there. The sculptures are owned by the sculptors and loaned to the exhibit. An honorarium of $500 will be paid to each exhibitor. If funding is available, a “People’s Choice” awards program will be held, with the winners receiving cash prizes. Sculptors may submit proposals for up to two of their original sculptures. The City of Edina has provided concrete pads and/or pedestals. The artist must be willing to install and remove the work and must insure or self-insure it. Applications must be postmarked by March 31. The Public Art Committee will notify artists selected for the exhibit by April 16. Art must be delivered and installed May 24-31, 2010, and picked up by May 15, 2011. The Edina Public Art Committee is a committee of the Art Center Board.
