Parade, Fireworks Highlight Independence Day Activities
Edina, Minn., June 28, 2023 – Celebrate America’s Independence Day with the annual Edina Fourth of July Parade in the morning and an evening patriotic concert with fireworks.
The Edina Community Foundation, in partnership with the City of Edina, is hosting the three events Tuesday, July 4.
The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Eden Avenue behind City Hall and travels east on Eden, goes east on West 50th Street and ends at Halifax Avenue near Lunds & Bylerlys. The hour-long parade
features veterans, marching bands, floats, horses, musicians, clowns and more.
While the parade route is the same as previous years, spectator spaces are limited on Eden Avenue due to road construction. All spectators and their chairs and blankets must be east
of the tree carved into the “Wildlife of Edina” animal sculpture. Plenty of viewing room is available along the south side of West 50th Street.
Gravel paths will be available in limited areas so people can walk around the parade vehicles and over to Eden Avenue and West 50th Street. However, it’s recommended people use other
routes away from the construction. Pedestrians are not allowed to wander into or through the construction areas.
People putting out chairs and/or blankets in advance must place them off the sidewalks so they don’t block the sidewalk in any way.
Those who can’t make it to the parade can still enjoy the festivities by watching the broadcast live on Edina TV (Comcast/Xfinity channels 813 and 16). It will also be rebroadcast on
Edina TV at 8 p.m. Mondays, 4 a.m. and noon Tuesdays, 10 p.m. Thursdays, and 6 a.m. and 2 p.m. Fridays through July. The parade video also will be posted after the event to the Edina
TV YouTube channel and to the City’s Facebook and Nextdoor accounts. Please note the parade will not be on Facebook Live this year.
Continuing a tradition started in 1970, the First John Philip Sousa Memorial Band will play a special Independence Day concert starting at 8:45 p.m. at Rosland Park, 4300 W. 66th St.
That concert will be preceded by a fife-and-drum performance at 8 p.m.
Following the concert, the fireworks show will take place after dark.

City offices will be closed to the public July 3 and 4. Other City facilities will have modified hours; call ahead or visit their websites or Facebook pages to check status.
