There are more student member positions open than ever before. The Art Center Board, Community Health Committee, Energy & Environment Commission, Heritage Preservation Board, Human Rights & Relations Commission, Park Board, Planning Commission and Transportation Commission have student members. Students serve one-year terms. To offer the opportunity to more of the community’s youth, the City Council at its April 20 meeting decided to appoint two students to each advisory group, instead of one as it had done in the past. However, none of the student members will be voting members. Applicants are reminded that City ordinances require faithful attendance at board and commission meetings. Students are urged to consider the time commitment for board and commission service when applying for an appointment. To receive an application or for more information, visit the City’s website, www.CityofEdina.com, or contact City Clerk Debra Mangen, 952-826-0408. Applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 21. The Council will make the appointments before the start of the 2010-2011 school year, as the terms begin Sept. 1. -30-
