City to host retirement party for outgoing City Manager
Edina, Minn., June 22, 2010 – A public reception in honor of outgoing City Manager Gordon Hughes will be
held 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 26, at Centennial Lakes Park, 7499 France Ave. S.
Hughes plans to retire from the City July 30. Hughes joined the City of Edina staff as the City’s first
Environmental Planner in 1974. In 1977, Hughes was promoted to the position of Director of Planning. In 1978,
he also assumed the duties of Executive Director of the Edina Housing and Redevelopment Authority, (HRA). In
1985, he was promoted to Assistant City Manager while retaining his duties as Executive Director of the HRA.
In November of 1998, he was appointed City Manager.
The fishing-themed reception, which will include light refreshments, is open to the public. Cost is $10 per
