Edina Public Works Facility to be dedicated July 29
Edina, Minn., July 16, 2010 – The City of Edina’s Public Works, Park Maintenance and Engineering departments will
host a dedication ceremony for the new Public Works Facility, 7450 Metro Blvd., on Thursday, July 29, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Remarks will be made at 5 p.m.
The public is invited to attend the dedication. The departments are scheduled to move into the new Public Works
Facility June 26-28. Because the move-in will not be complete and some finishing touches will be made after everything is
moved and unpacked, tours will not be offered at the dedication, but will be given in May 2011 during an Open House
held in conjunction with Public Works Week.
Edina’s current Public Works building, located at 5146 Eden Ave. near Minnesota Highway 100, has served the
community since the 1950s as the center of operations for street, utilities and parks maintenance. The growth of the
community and the need for expanded services rendered the building and surrounding site too small to accommodate
the equipment and allow for efficient operations. In 2008, the City acquired and is nearing completion of the renovation
of the industrial building on Metro Boulevard that meets Edina’s future needs, enabling the City to provide more
effective and efficient services and fleet maintenance.
