HomeMy WebLinkAboutBraemar Park Open HouseContact: Debbie Townsend, Communications Coordinator Phone 952-826-0346 • dtownsend@EdinaMN.gov • EdinaMN.gov  FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE  Learn About Braemar Park Improvements at Sept. 6 Open House  Edina, Minn., Aug. 18, 2023 – Learn about the upcoming improvements to Braemar Park and give your feedback on new trails at an open house 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6.   Braemar Park, at 500 acres, is the largest recreational space in Edina and is home to Braemar Arena, Braemar Field, Braemar Golf Course and Golf Dome and Courtney Fields. At the open house, Parks & Recreation staff and consultants will share information on multiple features of the Braemar Park Master Plan, which includes: The first formal mountain biking trails in Edina Walking trails Improvements at Courtney Fields for players and spectators New playground at Courtney Fields Dedicated pickleball courts Braemar Arena improvements Buckthorn removal and nature restoration   Everyone is welcome to attend the open house, which will be held at the Braemar Arena Backyard Rink, 7501 Ikola Way. The information that will be shared will be of high interest to baseball families, mountain bikers, nature lovers, park and trail users, skaters and neighbors.   Some proposed trail alignments will be shown, and feedback collected from those who attend. People also will be able to ask questions about various aspects of the Braemar Park Master Plan at the event. Those unable to attend the open house will be able to give feedback online via Better Together Edina. If there are thunderstorms at the event time, the open house will be moved to the Braemar Golf Course Clubhouse, 6364 John Harris Drive.   Funding for these $8.1 million in improvements to Braemar Park will come from the local sales tax Edina voters approved in November 2022. Voters will be asked this November to approve using that same sales tax to expand Braemar Arena, adding an additional indoor rink, a safer drop-off area, more parking and a larger lobby.   For more information on the Braemar Park Master Plan, visit EdinaMN.gov/BraemarPark.
