This funding is open to human services agencies and organizations addressing an immediate basic human need (i.e., elements required for survival and normal/healthy mental and physical health, such as food, water, shelter, protection from environmental threats, and supportive services to assist with activities of daily living) for residents of Edina. The request for proposals opens July 3 at EdinaMN.gov/HS. The Human Services Task Force, made up of members of Edina’s advisory boards and commissions, will make recommendations on agencies and organizations applying for funding to the Edina City Council. The Task Force meets every two years, corresponding with the City’s two-year budget cycle. The City will fund the selected organizations for two years. Organizations need not be based in Edina, but their service area must include Edina residents. Previous recipients have included the Normandale Center, VEAP, Oasis for Youth, Beacon Interfaith, Help at Your Door, Bridge for Youth, Cornerstone Advocacy Service and Senior Community Services. “Caring for our community is a team effort, and the partnership we have with the City of Edina has proven invaluable in helping the families and individuals who participate in our programs thrive,” said Kari Thompson, Chief Executive Officer of VEAP. “We are incredibly grateful that the Edina Human Services Funding program has supported our work year after year, and we look forward to clearing pathways to stronger, more hopeful communities together for years to come.” Human services providers may submit proposals for funding of their services, indicating how they intend to meet the needs of Edina residents. Select applicants will be invited to a task force meeting the week of Oct. 16 to make short presentations supporting their funding requests, with more detail about the presentations provided to selected applications in September. Requests for proposals for 2024-2025 funding are due 4:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14.
