New Edina police officer sworn in
Edina, Minn., Oct. 19, 2009 – David Venne was recently sworn in as the Edina Police
Department’s newest officer.
Venne began work as a Police Officer Sept. 22. City Clerk Debra Mangen administered the oath to
him Sept. 30. Venne was sworn in with Chief of Police Mike Siitari at his side and surrounded by his
fellow officers, family and friends.
Venne, who holds a bachelor’s degree in police science from St. Mary’s University, made a career
change to join the Edina Police Department. He previously worked for Target Corporation for
more than 20 years, most recently as Leader of the Investigations Analysis Team.
“Dave was not looking for a job, he was looking for a vocation,” Siitari said during the brief
ceremony in September. “He will have a chance to make a difference in people’s lives almost every
day. We are pleased to welcome him as a member of our Department.”
