Planning Commission to host meeting on zoning ordinance
update
Edina, Minn., Oct. 7, 2009 – The Planning Commission will hold a meeting 7 p.m. Wednesday,
Oct. 14, to share information and gather additional input from the public concerning the update of
the City’s zoning ordinance.
Last spring, the Edina Planning Commission initiated a process of reviewing the zoning code.
Although some revisions are required to align the zoning code with the newly adopted
Comprehensive Plan, the bulk of the review process is designed to determine whether other
changes are merited. The zoning ordinance update process approved by the Planning Commission
has four stages: assessment and information gathering, formulation of potential revisions, evaluation
of potential revisions and confirmation.
The Commission’s assessment and information-gathering process is nearing completion. Members
will share what they’ve learned and take additional feedback at the Oct. 14 meeting, to be held at
the Edina Senior Center, 5280 Grandview Square.
