Edina City Hall – Presidents Conference Room
October 24, 2019 4:30 p.m.
I. Call to Order
Chair Rubin called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m.
II. Roll Call
Answering roll call were: Chair Rubin, Commissioners Chandler, Hegley, Isaacs, Klein,
Martin, Miller, Morgan-Nelsen, Rubin, Suckow, and Student Commissioners Jahagirdar, and
Konkimalla
Staff present: Staff Liaison Susan Tarnowski
III. Approval Of Meeting Agenda
Motion made by Isaacs to approve the meeting agenda. Motion seconded by Klein.
Motion carried.
IV. Approval Of Meeting Minutes
Motion made by Miller to approve the September 26, 2019 minutes. Motion
seconded by Klein. Motion carried.
V. Community Comment
None
VI. Reports/Recommendations
A. Review of ACC work sessions with City Council
• Commissioners discussed the presentation to the Council; some had expected
more exchange of ideas
• Commissioners determined that a summary report on status of the current Art
Center for the Council members was necessary, per the draft 2020 Work Plan
• Commissioners agreed to invite the new Director of Parks & Recreation, Perry
Vetter, to the November 21, 2019 ACC meeting
B. Next steps for Public Art in Edina
• Commissioners discussed the need to plan for a community survey and possible
focus groups for input on Public Art as per the draft 2020 Work Plan
• To ensure inclusivity, connect with HRRC on the survey
• Commissioners discussed a software purchase for an inventory of the Edina art
collection
• Student Commissioners encouraged the Commission to reach out to Edina High
School students and other groups for an inclusive process
C. Approach to review & update of previous Art Center reports

• Several commissioners had participated in the past in information-gathering
sessions and report writing on the status of the current Art Center
D. Collaboration with other commissions per 2020 plan
• Commissioners determined that they would attend other commission meetings,
such as the Planning and the Parks & Recreation Commissions
• Commissioners hoped to share the Three-Year Plan for Public Art in Edina with
other Commissions
• Chair Rubin encouraged the all Commissioners to attend other Commission
meetings
E. Ongoing communication with City Council on Work Plan initiatives
• Commissioners discussed the possibility of meeting earlier in the year with the
Council for its work session
VII. Chair and Member Comments
• Due to the holiday, the November ACC meeting is rescheduled for
Nov. 21, 2019
• Due to the holidays, the December ACC meeting is rescheduled for
Dec. 19, 2019
VIII. Staff Comments
• Tarnowski reported on the upcoming installation of the artwork resulting from the
2019 Edina Student Sculpture Contest.
IX. Adjournment
Motion made by Chandler to adjourn the October 24, 2019 meeting at 6:00 pm.
Motion seconded by Hegley. Motion carried.
