Call To Order Chair Westlund called the meeting to order at 4:30 p.m. II. Roll Call Answering roll call were Commissioners Curtin, Faeth, Fram, Scully, Stemmler, and Chair Westlund. Staff Present: Recreation Supervisor, Laura Fulton. Student Commissioners Li and Benarouch joined the meeting at 4:35 p.m. III. Approval Of Meeting Agenda Motion made by Scully to approve the January 25, 2024 meeting agenda, seconded by Stemmler. Motion carried. IV. Approval Of Meeting Minutes Motion made by Fram to approve the December 14, 2023 meeting minutes, seconded by Faeth. Motion carried. V. Special Recognition and Presentations • Commission recognized Arts and Culture Commissioner Years of Service i. Kathy Amlaw was recognized by her fellow commissioners for her service to our community. Amlaw served on the ACC since July 21, 2021. • Commission introduced student commissioners Li and Benarouch to members. VI. Reports/Recommendations A. 2024 Workplan Updates • Initiative 1.1.1: Art Center i. Fulton gave updates on the Hennepin County community meeting from January 20, 2024. The meeting was timeline and library focused. ii. Chair Westlund and Commissioner Curtin reported on their meetings with Webb Management, the company consulting with the City to assist in building a proforma for the new space. • Initiative 1.1.2: Edina Art Grant Program i. Commissioner Faeth reported that the Art Grant will launch on Feb. 1 and remain open through March 15. The Better Together Edina site is nearly ready to go live and the application will be available online, along with the scoring criteria. ii. Commission discussed marketing opportunities and offered feedback on scoring criteria. • Initiative 1.1.3: Review Public Art Opportunities for New City Facilities and Locations Draft Minutes☐ Approved Minutes☒ Approved Date: February 22, 2024 i. Fulton reported that Bill Neuendorf has commissioner information and will be reaching out to discuss the mural opportunities at 50th and France. She also reported that the new fire station will have areas for public art and that the initiative group will be brought in to assist with community comments once that portion of the project begins. • Initiative 1.1.4: Commission Participation in Community Events i. Westlund highlighted the community events that the commission has participated in in past years. ii. Stemmler reported that the initiative group will begin to focus their attention on upcoming events like the 4th of July parade and Fall into the Arts Festival. Commission measured interest of members to participate in the parade. VII. Chair And Member Comments • Chair Westlund reported about the interviews for board and commissioner applicants on which she sat. Board and commission assignments will be made at the beginning of February. VIII. Staff Comments • 2024 Meeting dates were discussed. • Staff member Fulton presented upcoming art programming • Fulton reminded commissioners that elections will take place for chair and vice-chair in February. IX. Adjournment Meeting adjourned at 6:07p.m.
