MEMBERS PRESENT: James Van Valkenburg, Sandra Clark, Don Peddie, Susan Kelm,
Dodie Paul, Elizabeth Eisenbrey, Dee Dege
MEMBERS ABSENT: Peter R. Spokes, Art Dicky
STAFF PRESENT: Diana Hedges, Janet Canton
I. CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Van Valkenburg called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m.
II. APPROVAL OF THE JANUARY 17. 1991 MINUTES
Don Peddie MOVED TO APPROVE THE JANUARY 17, 1991 MINUTES. Dodie Paul
SECONDED THE MOTION. MINUTES APPROVED.
III. DIRECTOR'S REPORT
The following topics were discussed from the Director's Report.
A. Classes - Ms. Paul indicated that she is impressed with the increase of
students in the pottery classes. She agreed with Ms. Hedges that this is
due to the new facility.
B. Volunteer Recognition - Ms. Hedges stated that she feels Betty Paugh
and Judy Smith should receive the in-house volunteer award for all of their
work with the Art Center.
Ms. Hedges also suggested that Shirley Taylor be nominated as Outstanding
Senior Commendation. Dodie Paul MOVED TO NOMINATE SHIRLEY TAYLOR AS
OUTSTANDING SENIOR COMMENDATION. Sandra Clark SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION
APPROVED.
C. Comedy Nite
Ms. Clark indicated that she will start taking auction items. There are
not a lot of items so she would like them to be very special. Mr. Peddie
asked if necklaces would be okay to put in the auction. Ms. Clark replied
that necklaces would be a good item. Ms. Paul indicated that she will be
donating a pet portrait.
The topic was brought up that Braemar needs to be clarified as Braemar Golf
Course. Some people think of Braemar as Braemar Arena.
Ms. Hedges pointed out that the time has been changed to 5:30 p.m. Ms.
Eisenbrey indicated that she will not be able to attend Comedy Nite.
Ms. Hedges pointed out that the mailing list is being worked on right now.
If anyone has changes or updates let Ms. Hedges know. The mailing will go
out on March 1, 1991. Ms. Paul will be correcting all of the new zip codes
on the mailing list.
Ms. Clark and Ms. Paugh are working on the decorations. They are making
masks as well as using decorations from past events.
D. 50th and France - Ms. Eisenbrey was pleased that the Art Center will be
getting their old spot back for this event. With electricity in this area
there will be pottery this year. Ms. Eisenbrey asked if they will be able
to do t-shirts again this year. Ms. Hedges replied that they will not do
t-shirts because money was lost on this item.
