Board Positions Mr. Van Valkenburg asked if everyone was happy with their board positions and if there were any additions or corrections to be made? Ms. Eisenbrey indicated that she was not on the list and that she would like to be listed under membership. Ms. Clark indicated that she would like an up-to-date list of the board members addresses and phone numbers. B. "Arti-Gras" Fundraiser Ms. Hedges indicated that she needs guests names and addresses with zip codes on a 3 x 5 card. Data entry is currently being worked on for the mailing list. Also, please let her know of any changes. Mr. Spokes asked if the board could look at a master list? Mr. Van Valkenburg asked Ms. Hedges to make a copy of the master list for all of the board members to review and make any changes or corrections. Ms. Hedges stated that the board needs to think about which committee they would like to be on for this fundraiser. There will be a mixture of people on the committees between the FEDS and the Art Board. The meetings so far with the FEDs have turned out well. There has never been an "Arti-Gras" before so it should be a lot of fun. Ms. Clark stated that at the next meeting everyone should commit to one committee. Mr. Spokes stated he would like to be on the Mailing, Nametags and Greeting Table and Set-Up Committees. Ms. Hedges indicated that Sharon Hale will be chairperson for the Food Committee. Bradley and Jenny Benn and Jane and Dave Riffey will be working the bar. They currently need more people to work a one to two hour shift. Mollie Paulson is on the Clean Up committee and needs 8 more people to help. Heather King is working on booking the Sheick Sextet for entertainment. This band is a real big draw. They will be playing at the Edina Country Club on September 19th and at Southview Country Club on September 27th. It is also being looked at to possibly have some background music and then have the Sheick Sextet perform. A dance could possibly start around 10:00 p.m. Ms. Hedges stated that a tentative time frame and budget have been worked out. It looks like each of the two organizations could make $13,500.00. This would be based on selling 400 tickets. Ms. Hedges believes that with everyone's enthusiasm this can be done. There have been a lot of good auction ideas. Ms. Hedges also noted there will be some special events. There is a possibility that Paul Granlund could be a special honorary guest artist. Heather has contacted Kelvin Miller at Premier Galleries to see if Paul would be interested. There will also be 5-8 artists displaying or demonstrating their work as a "Meet the Artist" feature. There is also going to be a raffle for a trip to New Orleans or Paris. Ms. Eisenbrey asked what capacity Heather is working as. Ms. Hedges noted that she is a volunteer. C. Tour to New Mexico Mr. Van Valkenburg asked what the insurance policy is for a trip like this with the City? Mr. Kojetin stated that the people will need to sign a waiver like anything else. Ms. Paulson stated she thought the insurance was through the travel agency. It was asked what Sue Weigle does with her seniors on trips. The topic will be looked into. D. Reception for Jane Zins Riffey There will be a reception for Jane Zins Riffey from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on September 19th at the Centennial Lakes Centrum Building. Ms. Hedges hopes all board members can attend. Art Dicky did the transparency for the new limited edition print. E. Juried Show Ms. Paulson gave a report on the Juried Show. She noted that Peter R. Spokes was omitted from the News Release that was sent in this week with pictures. She noted that this was the best opening the Art Center has ever had. It was very successful and everyone was pleased with the outcome. There was a $400.00 difference in the money that was made this year. There was one major contributor, however, that did not come through this year. It is getting harder and harder every year to get donations. Ms. Paulson thanked Mr. Spokes and all of the other board members who helped and came to the show. Mr. Van Valkenburg asked Ms. Hedges if she could maybe get a news release with people that were omitted. II. OTHER A. Edinborough Pat Greer gave a report on what is being done at Edinborough and Centennial Lakes. She indicated that Centennial Lakes has a room that faces the lake where about 10 - 12 medium sized paintings can be hung. Edinborough right now has a children's art show going on. Ms. Greer asked the board if they enjoy getting the invitations she sends out on the openings. It was noted that they do like to receive these invitations. Mr. Kojetin made a comment that he would like to see paintings that give more of a warm feeling than the cold feeling of pastel flowers in the room that Ms. Greer was referring to at Centennial Lakes. B. Artarama Ms. Hedges stated that she recently met with the local art centers and they are planning a Celebrity Artarama. Some of the celebrities art include: Bob Lerzama, Scott LaDue, Jill Trenary, Rob Leer, Scott Studwell and Jesse Ventura. The proceeds from this event will go to "Make a Wish". From the auction part all proceeds go to "Make A Wish" and for the final sale, 25% goes to the Art Center and 5% goes to "Make a Wish". This will be a traveling show going to the different cities. This event will be at the Edina Art Center September 17 - September 31. Ms. Eisenbrey asked if one of the celebrities could attend the show at the Edina Art Center? This would be great publicity. III. ADJOURNMENT The meeting adjourned at 7:55 a.m.
