Spokes Sandra Clark, Betty Paugh, Judy Smith Bob Kojetin, Diana Hedges, Mollie Paulson Marion Ward I. CALL TO ORDER Mr. Van Valkenburg called the meeting to order at 7:30 a.m. II. APPROVAL OF THE MAY 17, 1990 MINUTES Ms. Dege noted a correction (III. g.) prospective (spelling) and wished an addition be made that she did agree to work on publicity. III. DIRECTOR'S REPORT The Director's Report was given by Diana Hedges. (a)(b) Finances were rung up early and the Art Center was running $5-6000 over on registrations. (c) The Donation Tile Wall letters will be sent to members and mailing list of about 5000 during August. (d) Ms. Paulson reported that the Benefit Sale would begin on July 25th for members and open to the Public July 26th. The sale will continue through the following week. (e) Ms. Hedges noted that Marion Ward has taken over the scheduling for volunteers at the Art Center. (f) Ms. Hedges mentioned that the Boat Trip with Ron and Sandy Clark was an excellent fund-raiser. (g) Ms. Paulson reported that the Edina Scene Contest judging will be coming up on August 2. The winning picture will be used for the Park and Recreation calendar and exhibited at the Marquette Bank in a show with the accepted entries. IV. JURIED SHOW Ms. Paulson indicated that the Juried Show entries were coming in on schedule and that the judging has been arranged. The judges will be M.C. Anderson M.C. Gallery in Wyman Building, David Weinberg, a professor from U of M, Department of Fine Arts, and Jim Burple, a art professor from MCAD. The opening reception for the juried members art exhibit will be on August 16th, 5 - 8 p.m. V. PROGRESS ON BUILDING (a) Mr. Dickey reported on the progress of the Art Center expansion. There was an inspection with the contractors that pointed out areas to be completed. The painting studio will be corrected. Mr. Dickey suggested that we might need an additional thermostat in that room. (b) Mr. Kojetin said that a new storage area, sodding, landscaping and asphalt will be finished for the celebration opening of the new wing October 21st at 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Paulson added that she is arranging for some local performing art groups to participate in this "opening celebration." Promoting for it will be in "About Town" magazine. VI. OTHER Ms. Paul suggested that there be a coffee for Margaret McDowell before she leaves the Art Center Staff in the fall. VII. ADJOURNMENT Don Peddie MOVED TO ADJOURN THE MEETING. Susan Kelm SECONDED THE MOTION. MOTION CARRIED.
