by the Mayor. A question was asked in regard to how the board was formed,
VII. FUNDRAISING
Ms. King reported that fundraising is a constant challenge and the Art Center board spends most of
its time focused on fundraising. Other art centers receive more municipal support so that they can
focus more on classes. Mr. Keprios commented that the Art Center Director spends time on
fundraising which divides her attention from class quality. He stated fundraising should be a
secondary focus. Ms. King expressed concern on how to get feedback from the council, since the
art center needs support. Ms. Clark support Ms. Kings concern.
Ms. King presented some ideas for fundraisers. In Fort Meyers, FL an exhibit is held with a jazz
festival. WAMSO offers "Hot Jazz for a Cool Night" which is jazz and horsdevours. The 10-06
Society presents a play for a fundraiser.
The Art Center could buy a block of seats for the the Summer Pops series and sell them as a
fundraiser. The Minneapolis Club has an art collection tour with a slideshow, tour, and lecture.
Some discussion followed and the Minneapolis Club tour in the fall was encouraged. Ms. King
would get information in regard to food and price.
Ms. Hedges stated that funds are behind because the Valentines fundraiser was not held this year.
Ms. King stated that the "Show Stoppers" are still available to perform for an event.
Ms. Hedges stated that the Art Center is involved in "Cornicopia of Art" in 1997, which is an art
fair at Centennial Lakes. The board expressed concern on another art fair being held in the metro
area.

Art Center.
