The board discussed the reasons for the slow ticket sales.
Ms, Andersen has obtained a variety of outstanding donations. Ms. Andersen requested help with
the bid boards on Wednesday. Ms. Paul and Ms. Eisenbrey volunteered to assist.
Ms. Hedges asked the board for suggestions on fundraisers. Ms. King suggested a "Preview

the fundraiser. Ms. King will follow-up.
IV. HOLIDAY SALE AND TOAST TO BOB CONNOLLY
On November 5th the Holiday Sale will open and at 3:00 p.m. we will toast Bob Connolly and his
contributions to the Art Center. (Mr. Connolly passed away this year.) Mr. VanValkenburg stated
that the comments in the "Edina Art Center Classes" schedule in regard to Bob were excellent.
V. MEDIA LAB
The Art Center has an opportunity to acquire Hennepin County's Media Lab equipment. They
closed the lab at the Southdale Library and the equipment is being offered to the Edina Art Center
for $8,000. There would be an additional cost of $2,000 for rewiring. The wiring would be done
in the upstairs classroom.

The board also expressed their support in acquiring the equipment. It presents a potential for more
income. Ms. Hedges stated that people are looking for a media lab. The center currently receives
about ten calls a week inquiring about a media lab.
There was discussion in regard as to how the $8,000 expense would be paid. Mr. Keprios stated
the Developer's Fund could be a source to pay the expense. There was discussion about offering
$6,500 to the county for the equipment. The board felt that $8,000 was already a fair price.

display. Kincaid's has requested three more showings next year.
VII. OTHER
1. Board Members Involvement
Ms. King inquired whether the board had a written statement outlining the expectations of a board
member. Besides attending the meetings regularly, is s member expected to attend a certain
number of events/fundrisers through the year?
Ms. Hedges wants to find an event that the board could commit to more involvement. Ms. King
asked if the board could be increased.
There was discussion without resolution.
Ms. King suggested board members wear name tags that state "Glad Your Here" when attending
an opening.
Ms. Clark suggested a gift to the volunteers to recognize their years of service. She suggested a
pin with places for different colored stones for 5, 10, 15 years of service.
2. Minnesota Splash.
Minnesota Splash is held at Centennial Lakes each summer. Next summer they are looking at being
more of an art fair then in past years. Mr. Keprios asked if the art center would be interested in
helping coordinating that event, Ms. Hedges expressed concern that another art fair is almost an
overload for the area with 50th and France art fair, Uptown, Farmstead and Powderhorn.
3. Art DuJour
Ms. Paul stated that the Galleria was hosting "Art DuJour" tonight with food, jazz and art. Ms.
King stated that maybe the Art Center could do something like that. Ms. Dege stated that it could
be a family event. Ms. Hedges suggested having the Historical and Garden Clubs involved.
