AboutBusiness receives national award
Edina, Minn., May 27, 2005 – The City of Edina’s quarterly magazine for the business
community, AboutBusiness, recently received an award in the National Association of Government
Communicators’ (NAGC) Blue Pencil award competition.
The award was announced earlier this month during NAGC’s 2005 Communications School in Austin,
Texas. Inside Smithsonian Research, published by the Smithsonian Institution received first place in the
“external newsletter” category of the awards competition. Receiving second place was Nevada Sage by
the Bureau of Land Management. The City of Edina’s AboutBusiness received third-place. There were
more than 600 entries in the 2004 Blue Pencil competition.
AboutBusiness was introduced in January 2002 as a supplement to About Town. It is a quarterly
publication produced to keep Edina business people informed of local government news, activities and
programs of importance. Regular features include briefs on amendments made to the City Code,
updates on projects recently approved by the City Council, Staff Notes and information on commercial
crime. Articles about other City departments, volunteers, service organizations and community history
also appear in the publication from time to time. The magazine is distributed to all commercial entities in
the City with a total circulation of about 3,500.

This is not the first time AboutBusiness has received a national award. The professional association
City-County Communicators and Marketing Association (3CMA) presented the newsletter with its first-
place “Savvy Award” in 2003.
