France Avenue Family Physicians, 7250 France Ave. S., Suite 410, and the Edina Park and Recreation Department are encouraging parents and children to explore Edina’s parks by bringing back “Healthy Hornets” for a third year. Healthy Hornets invites participants to visit the City of Edina website, www.CityofEdina.com, and answer trivia questions. Correct answers reveal clues about where to find Healthy Hornet signs in Edina’s parks. Once participants find 10 hidden signs, they can return to the website and enter the locations where they spotted the Healthy Hornets. Families that correctly report all the signs will receive a certificate of participation and an invitation to a Healthy Hornets event at the end of the summer. “Edina prides itself in its premier parks,” said Recreation Supervisor Donna Tilsner. “This is a way for families to get to know various parks in Edina on their own time.” Tilsner said that many families get in a habit of exploring only their neighborhood park, and forget about the other outdoor spaces Edina has to offer. By encouraging people to spend their free time walking outside instead of watching television, Tilsner said she thinks the Healthy Hornets program will help fight obesity among Edina’s families and promote active lifestyles.
