HomeMy WebLinkAboutCity Hall Open House6-04 more FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE City Hall open house scheduled for July 4 Edina, Minn., June 23, 2004 – City officials will formally dedicate the new City Hall at an open house Sunday, July 4. The open house will begin immediately following the 12:30 p.m. Independence Day parade. The parade begins behind Edina City Hall and proceeds east on Eden Avenue and West 50th Street, ending at Halifax Avenue near the U.S. Bank parking lot. The open house will include tours of the building, music by local artists and ice cream treats provided by International Dairy Queen Companies and Frauenshuh Hospitality Group. At a 2:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony, Mayor Dennis Maetzold and members of the Edina City Council will dedicate the building and the 1954 time capsule from the old City Hall will be opened for viewing by the public. Tours will continue until 4 p.m. “Our new City Hall is not only a wonderful work environment for our employees, but will also be an important gathering place for the community,” said City Manager Gordon Hughes, who is organizing the event. “We hope that everyone who attends the July 4th parade will stop by after the parade to take a first-hand look at this great facility.” Limited parking will be available at City Hall. Parade spectators are encouraged to walk to the open house. To ensure their safety, the portion of Eden Avenue behind City Hall will be closed to traffic during the event.
