HomeMy WebLinkAboutGreat Duck Chase Results good10-03FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Officials label ‘Great Duck Chase’ a success Edina, Minn., October 1, 2003 – Centennial Lakes Park officials are calling the first Great Duck Chase 5K and Fun Run a success. Approximately 60 people participated in the Sept. 28 event, which was held within the confines of the unique Edina park located at 7499 France Ave. S. Matthew Reinders of Bloomington was the male winner of the 5K. His overall time was 15 minutes and eight seconds. Mary Weidner won the women’s race with a time of 22 minutes and four seconds. The winners were each presented with a plaque at the completion of the race. The 1.5-mile Fun Run was held after the 5K. Approximately 15 people participated in the event, most of who were children and walkers. No winners were named for the Fun Run. Each child received a small rubber duck for participating. All participants received a free Great Duck Chase T-shirt and complimentary snacks and beverages after the event. According to Stacy Maas, Centennial Lakes Park Special Events Coordinator, “We were pleased with the overall turnout for the Great Duck Chase -- we had great weather and a good time with both the 5K and the 1.5-mile Fun Run.
