HomeMy WebLinkAboutironkids triathlon9-03 more FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE City of Edina to host IronKids Bread Triathlon in August Edina, Minn., Aug. 8, 2003 – The City of Edina will host the IronKids Bread Triathlon Sunday, Aug. 17 at Rosland Park. Participants from all over the country will swim, bike and run in and around Roland Park. Children participating in the event will be broken into two groups: a junior division for boys and girls ages 7 to 10 and a senior division for those ages 11 to 14. The junior triathlon includes a 100-meter swim, 3.1-mile bike ride and 0.6-mile run. The senior competition includes a 200-meter swim, 6.2-mile bike ride and 1.2-mile run. Children can participate as individuals or in relays. Relay teams are made up of all girls, all boys or co-ed. The IronKids Bread Triathlon started in 1985, and since then over 40,000 children have participated. This is the third consecutive year that the City of Edina has hosted the event. Rosland Park is located at 4300 W. 66th St., next to the Edina Aquatic Center.
