Jennifer Wilkinson chosen as 2003 Volunteer of
the Year
Edina, Minn., June 9, 2003 – City of Edina, Minn., Communications Director Jennifer Wilkinson, a
native of Fennimore, recently received the 2003 Volunteer of the Year award from the Edina Chamber
of Commerce. Each year, the Chamber presents the award to one person whose work with the
organization is exemplary.
“Jennifer volunteers at all levels of the Chamber,” said Arrie Larsen Manti, president of the Edina
Chamber of Commerce. “Sometimes I feel like Jennifer is on our staff—we work that closely with her
on projects.”
Wilkinson has served on the Chamber’s education, golf tournament and Emerald Gala planning
committees. She has also been an active partner in promoting the Chamber through Edina’s quarterly
publication AboutBusiness.
Wilkinson has been Communications Director for the City of Edina, a first-ring suburb of Minneapolis,
since January 2000. She is responsible for media and public relations as well as managing all
communications-related activities. She also writes and produces several internal and external
newsletters and oversees publication of AboutTown and AboutBusiness, the City’s two magazines.
“Any time you give [Jennifer] any job, you know it’s going to be done the best,” said Cindy Schweizer,
administrative manager for the Edina Chamber of Commerce. “She always has great, creative ideas,
better ways to do things, and is very efficient about everything.”

Wilkinson has a degree in technical communication management from the University of Wisconsin-
Platteville. She has previously worked as a reporter for several newspapers in Wisconsin, Iowa, and
Minnesota.
